Defected Publishing Division Signs DJ John Summit | Editing


The publishing arm of Defected Records, faulty music, has signed an exclusive three-year publishing contract with John Summit, as well as an agreement to represent his neighboring performer rights.

The deal will see John Summit represented globally by the Defected Music team and under-released by BMG, with ‘competitive’ advance and royalty rates covering upcoming releases and existing label recordings. such as Defected, D4 D4NCE, FFRR, Ultra, Repopulate Mars and Saved.

Already the home of Purple Disco Machine, Honey Dijon, Luke Solomon and Low Steppa, Defected Music is an independent publishing house specializing in electronic music with a roster of international producers and songwriters.

Entering the pandemic as a working accountant, John Summit is now a world-touring DJ and has been crowned the top-selling artist on Beatport across all genres in 2021. His tech-house track Deep End in 2020 was Beatport’s best-selling record and longest-running No. 1 that year, being playlisted by key stations on both sides of the Atlantic , including BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM and SiriusXM. His touring business was established as the US club scene remained open in 2020 and 2021. Summit played their first-ever European event at Defected’s Croatia festival in August 2021.

This year, he will play his first sets at Parklife in Manchester and at Coachella in California.
