Food distributor takes over Dartford warehouse

Food supplier and distributor Leathams has pre-leased a 30,000 sq. Ft. Warehouse in Railpen and Wrenbridge’s 9-acre Dartford X urban warehouse project in Dartford, east London.

Railpen’s development partner, Wrenbridge, has delivered five new Class A warehouse units ranging in size from 13,000 sq. Ft. To 75,000 sq. Ft. To the program. Each warehouse has achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating and all are highly insulated, have photovoltaic panels on the roof, and contain water-saving features and energy-efficient elevators. Charging stations for electric vehicles are also present on the site (20% active and 80% passive).

Martin Sandler, Property Manager at Leathams, says: “Dartford X is a great place for Leathams. Its proximity to major motorways and transport infrastructure giving us access to Folkstone and Felixstowe for our inbound goods as well as our outbound distribution to London and National is a key element of its appeal. Dartford X’s green credentials, ceiling heights, large yard and generous power supply are also important, especially as we plan to install a new refrigerated box as part of our layout. The view of many green spaces and lakes will also be ideal for our colleagues from the point of view of well-being. We look forward to occupying the space and having a long term relationship with Railpen.

Dartford X is owned and managed by Railpen, the investment manager of the £ 35 billion railways pension plans and developed in partnership with Wrenbridge.

CBRE, Cushmans and Glenny represented Railpen.
