Representatives of Nagad and Business Standard attend an event revealing their special joint publication titled ‘Chattogram in Language Movement’ at Nagad’s head office in Dhaka on Sunday. – Press release
To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the language movement, Nagad and the Business Standard have taken the initiative to honor 19 prominent Chattogram language fighters for their contributions to the language movement, a press release said.
The cover of this special joint publication titled “Chattogram in Language Movement” was unveiled on the occasion of International Mother Language Day.
The exclusive publication was launched at an inaugural ceremony held at the Nagad headquarters on Sunday.
Mohibul Hasan Chowdhoury, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education, was present at the event as the main guest.
Biplab Barua, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, and Nasiruddin Yousuff Bacchu, Ekushey Padak winning comedian and freedom fighter were present as special guests.
The event was also attended by Tanvir A Mishuk, Managing Director of Nagad, as well as other dignitaries.
The special publication, ‘Chattogram in Language Movement’ features untold stories of 19 veteran language fighters from the Chattogram region, who actively participated in the great language movement to gain the deserving status of Bengali as the state language of the Bangladesh.
This exclusive publication is expected to play a vital role in preserving the history of the Bangla language and the contributions and sacrifices of the great soldiers of the language.
Chattogram Language Veteran Soldiers who have been featured in the magazine are – Shaheed Saber, Maulana Ahmedur Rahman Azmee, AKM Emdadul Islam, Krishna Gopal Sen, Abdus Salam, AKM Rafique Ullah Chowdhury, Abdullah Al Harun, Kobial Ramesh Shil, MA Aziz, Abul Kalam Azad, Chemon Ara, Mohammad Solaiman, Binod Behari, Prothiba Mutsuddi, Shawkat Osman, Mahbub Ul Alam Chowdhury, Zahur Ahmad Chowdhury, Prof Abdul Fazal and Sayadul Haque.
Previously, these 19 articles were published and widely distributed in the national English daily Business Standard Print and online, from February 1 to February 21, the month of February.
The joint publication will be released nationwide with the daily trading standard on February 21, 2022.
