Parade to stop the printing of the weekly; will be available in e-edition for Sumter Item subscribers

Parade, a weekly national lifestyle magazine founded in 1941 and distributed to millions of newspaper readers across the country, will cease print distribution, the company recently announced.

The latest issue of Parade can be found in today’s edition of The Sumter Item.

Parade magazine will continue to be available online in an e-edition format for Item subscribers. Relish, Spry and Living will also not be printed. Parade was bought by The Arena Group earlier this year, which also owns brands such as Sports Illustrated and The Street.

“Parade has been a part of The Sumter Item for a long time, and I know some of our readers will be upset to see it become a print publication,” said Item editor Vince Johnson. “Although we are a small family business at The Item, we have a great relationship with the folks at Parade, and we have some exciting additions coming for Parade’s Item readers in the near future, both in print and digital.”
