Prince Harry’s memoir is embroiled in “some uncertainty” over when it will be published.
The Duke of Sussex announced last July that he was writing an “intimate and heartfelt” autobiography and although Penguin Random House said at the time that the book was “tentatively planned” for publication later this year, publishers have now admitted that they do not. I don’t yet have a release date for the highly anticipated tome.
And the spokesperson declined to confirm to the Sunday Times newspaper whether it will still appear this year as planned, with a representative for Harry himself offering a similar response.
A source told the outlet that there is currently “some uncertainty” over the book’s release date.
Announcing the book’s release last summer, Harry – who has children Archie, three, and Lili, 11 months, with wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex – vowed to write ‘not like the prince [he] was born but the man [he has] become” and promised to tell the “completely truthful” story of his life.
In a statement, he said: “I write this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become.
“I’ve worn many hats over the years, literally and figuratively, and I hope that by telling my story – the ups and downs, the mistakes, the lessons learned – I can help show that, no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.
“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I have learned in my life so far and I look forward to people reading a first-hand account of my life that is accurate and completely truthful.”
The 37-year-old royal was set to write the book alongside ghostwriter JR Moehringer.
A blurb from the editor said: ‘In an intimate and heartfelt memoir by one of the most compelling and influential global figures of our time, Prince Harry will, for the very first time, share the definitive narrative. experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that shaped him.
The description went on to say that Harry’s book will cover his “life in the public eye”, as well as “the joy he found in being a husband and father”.
