Sony Music Publishing signs global agreement with Olivia Rodrigo



Rodrigo made history with his critically acclaimed No.1 debut album SOUR. Released on May 21, 2021, the LP had the biggest start of the year, winning the most US audio streams from a female debut album and breaking the record for the most released album in a week by a female artist in the history of Spotify with more than 385M global flows. In addition to becoming RIAA Certified Gold in its first week, the album’s 11 tracks made it to the top 30 Billboard Hot 100, making Rodrigo the first female artist, and the fourth act overall, to simultaneously record 11 or more songs in the top 30. The 18-year-old musician also won her second No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with their hit single, “good 4 u”, not to mention # 1 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Chart with the album’s opening track, “brutal”. At June 2, she got her first number 1 on Rolling stones Artists 500 Chart with an impressive 283.7 million streams, becoming the third female artist to surpass the three Rolling stones graphics in a week.

Rodrigo instantly won over audiences the world over on January 8 with his first monumental single by SOUR, “Driver’s License”, which became one of the biggest songs of 2021 and achieved record success. The cinematic and alt-pop anthem garnered over 76 million streams in the United States in its first week and debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100, where he stayed for eight weeks. The song also won the world’s largest weekly streaming debut on Spotify and became the first track to surpass one billion global streams in 2021.
